Wow! What a busy week this last week was.
We had ladies playing on the Monday, Share the Wealth on Tuesday, Trade Day on Wednesday and Thursday, Keith's Friday and the Northern Rivers Challenge on the Saturday.
And on top of that, there was 60-and-over pairs at Tocumwal being played.
On Monday, ladies’ social day consisted of two games of triples over eight ends.
Winners were Elaine Rothe, Elaine Blizzard and Val Toohey.
Ladies’ Trade Day on Wednesday was at Finley with a close result between teams from Berrigan and Finley.
Both had 45 points, both had 15 shots up so it was percentage (ratios) used to separate the winner — which was Berrigan by a small margin.
Kerry Ralph and Cheryl Townsing played in the 60-and-over pairs at Tocumwal last Tuesday, and they won their two games and now play I. Saunders and J. Warfe from Cobram at Tocumwal on October 21 in the final.
Congratulations to both these girls in making it to the final, and good luck.
The 100-up final for the ladies will now be played in the afternoon of Monday, so social bowls will now be on. Make sure to get your name in to play.
The winners of Share the Wealth on Tuesday were Ray Emerson and Jeff Nisbet; second were C. Philpot and G. Westmore.
The best first game team were from Howlong.
Best second game were D. Toohey and K. Newton and best third game was the team of C. Thomas and L. Vinecombe.
Winners of the Trade Day on Thursday were the Chris Philpot team from Tocumwal with another Tocumwal team — led by Graeme Searle — finishing runners-up.
Best first game was the L. Magee team from Barooga. Best second game was the V. Kendall team from Cobram. Best third game was the B. Smith team from Finley. Best fourth game was the K. Quick team from Barooga.
The next Trade Day is at Tocumwal.
Keith's Friday had 20 players, and the winners of the day were the pairing of Archie Ellis and Helen Quinn with +16.
Runners-up were Gavan Cullen and Kevin Kennedy with 12.
Best first game went to Nisbet and Jo Pettit with 14.
Best second game winners were Jan Cullen and Carol Cox with 10.
The jackpot is again safe for another week.
Northern Rivers Challenge on Saturday was washed out after one game at Barooga, however those playing at Finley managed to play on.
No results were supplied from Finley, however winners were decided at Barooga for scores after eight ends. Winners were the team from Finley RSC, with runners-up the team of Ray Emerson, Archie Ellis, Jill Toohey and Ken Quinn.
Club presentation day is on Sunday, October 25 at 2 pm, please remember this date and get your name down to assist the organisers.
Bowls Victoria has a copy of the webinar held last Friday which explains how we, in Murray Bowls region, will be doing scoring of results this season via BowlsLink.
The web address if you would like to have a look at how it will be done is https://www.bowlsvic.org.au/clubassist/bowlslink/ I would suggest if you might be called upon to be a team manager at any stage, that you have a look at how it will be done.
Also at Bowls Vic are the latest details regarding COVID-19 play in regional Victoria, which is worth keeping an eye on as changes are being made regularly as the government announces new regulations. Current details are at https://www.bowlsvic.org.au/covid-19/regional-clubs/
