Barooga Bowls notes

Barooga Bowls

Last week's question: Does the marker have to ensure the jack is rolled the correct length?

Answer: Yes Law 42.2 “the marker must make sure the jack is at least 23 m from the mat line after it has been centred”.

This week's question: If a game has been stopped for any valid reason and played on a subsequent day can the player use a different set of bowls to those used on the day the game was stopped?

It was cooler weather last Monday for social bowls, with a game of two-bowl fours being played. Winners were Heather Crosthwaite, Maree O'Brien, Betty Oldham and Phyll Escott.

Women's Trade Day this week is at Picola. Contact Marg Cobbledick on 5866 2037. It is great to see Barooga has been well represented at trade days.

Congratulations to Kerry Ralph and Cheryl Townsing and Heather Crosthwaite and Helen Quinn on reaching the finals for the club pairs. The final is to be played on December 17 at 9.30 am.

A reminder that social bowls on Monday is aggregate bowls, Kris Kringle and a shared lunch. Please bring a gift to the value of $10 and a plate of lunch to share.

Some club events requiring more entries are the mixed pairs, 21-up (men) and the triples where the match committee will select teams from the nominated players.

Unfortunately no results this week from the trade day nor Keith's Friday.

Friday pennant was a mixed bag. Division one lost to Numurkah Golf after a great start. Division two had a great win against Picola and now sit just one point outside the four, although the current Murray bowls website shows otherwise.

Saturday pennant saw division one lose by one shot to Numurkah Golf, with two rinks up, one draw and one loss.

Division two had a big win against Numurkah and look forward to the next game against Berrigan.

Unfortunately division three had a loss against Finley RSC with one rink having a disappointing day, however the side is still with the four and ready for this week's game against Jerilderie at home. Division four had another good win and are currently fourth on the ladder.

The Christmas party is on Sunday, so make sure you attend. You might get the chance of meeting Santa.
