The senior side finished on a high, beating Wodonga Diamonds 6-0. It took a while to break the deadlock, but Cobram finally broke through the Diamonds defence.
Mitchell Speechley-Price pounced on a Ben Mahoney through ball and calmly rounded the keeper and scored the game’s first. Playing-coach Bill Puckett later added a second from a 25-yard free kick low into the far post.
The second half was much of the same with more attacking play from Cobram and the side added four more goals. Puckett got his second of the match after taking it past the keeper and back heeling past the trailing defenders. An own goal was converted after pressure from Speechley-Price and Joshua Koopman pounced on a goal mouth scramble soon after.
Roar club captain Aaron ‘Stix’ Feldtmann made his debut of the season with 10 minutes remaining and made the most of it, adding to the scoresheet with his first touch of the game.
He volleyed the ball home at the back post from a Jordan Nankiville cross from the left. It was an all-round performance to see off the home crowd, with back-to-back clean sheets and six more goals. The result does not change the league standings as Roar remains sixth place, but is picking up some good momentum heading into finals in two weeks.
Next week the side travels to play fifth-placed Boomers in the final league game of the season.
