The unit will buy three chainsaw kits for volunteers to use when called out during storms and floods.
The funds are part of the annual AAMI Equipment Handover program.
SES acting unit controller Luke Herezo said the funds would help keep communities safe.
“It's about having equipment to allow for multiple crews out in the field when attending storms and floods in the area,” he said.
“AAMI has been a great partner with the SES.
“We're only given a small budget to work with for the year, so it's a great help.”
AAMI has been VICSES’ principal community partner since 2002 and has contributed more than $9 million, with a large portion going towards critical emergency response equipment.
This year’s funds will be used to buy more than 3200 pieces of equipment across the state.
In the past 12 months, SES volunteers in north-east Victoria responded to more than 2400 emergency calls for assistance, ranging from on-the-ground support during emergencies to road rescue support, land searches and assisting other emergency service organisations.
North-east region regional manager Keith O’Brien said the equipment would help volunteers save lives.
“Our VICSES volunteers are committed to protecting and helping communities get back on their feet,” he said.
“We’re proud of the work they do and are grateful for the support from AAMI to allow our volunteers to continue to do so.”
