Families were outraged that students would not be able to capture the 2020 school year.Outdoor professional photography will now be allowed and students are permitted to take off their masks for the photos.
Cobram Secondary Collage principal Kimberley Tempest said students had their school photos taken last week.
“We were thrilled to be able to run the school photos,” she said.“Our photographer was able to squeeze our school in — as he now has two terms worth of work to fit into six weeks.“Our staff and students did an amazing job to bring it together so quickly.”
Member for Northern Victoria Wendy Lovell had called for the ban to be reversed and said having no school photos would have devastated struggling photographers.
“This is a win for every parent and photographer who has contacted a member of parliament to complain about this senseless ruling from the Andrews Government,” she said.“I am glad to have been able to assist the community in the reversal of the ban, which will now provide a valuable income source for photographers and give students treasured records of their school year.”
Graduation ceremonies can also go ahead this term, allowing Year 6 and Year 12 students and school staff to gather to celebrate their final year at their school.
The ceremonies can only be attended by students from the graduating year level and school staff, but can be broadcast to families.
