Body Shop consultant Melanie Irving saw how dry her hands were getting from constant washing and sanitising and thought about how workers at the Cobram's NCN Health would be feeling.
“I saw that a number of the bigger hospitals were receiving gifts and I knew our local hospital staff were working just as hard,” Ms Irving said.
“So, I decided to package up goodie bags for the hospital staff, which were filled with hand cream and sweet treat.”
Ms Irving gifted 60 goodie bags to the hospital after reaching out to her Facebook friends asking if they wanted to pledge money to gift tubes of hand cream to the hospital.
“I don’t earn any money off it as I used any profits to buy more hand creams,” Ms Irving said.
“It was all about giving back to the community and acknowledging our hospital workers.
“I hope it brightened their day and lifted their spirits in such a stressful time,” she said.
NCN Health chief executive Jacque Phillips said the community had shown the health service enormous support since the beginning of the pandemic.
“The constant changes and challenges of COVID-19 have been difficult to say the least, this thoughtful gift means a lot to us all,” she said.
Ms Irving planned on delivering another basket of gifts to hospital staff in the coming weeks and asked anyone interested in pledging a hand cream to contact her on 0402 048 708.
