Nine local men will perform the ‘Full Monty’ as a fundraiser for the campaign.
Sam Wood, Brett Dicker, Dennis Sutton, Ashley Crawford, Rob Crow, Ryan Wearn, Glenn Braybon, Kevin Morey and Daryll Morris will make the audience blush when they put on their show this Saturday from 7.30pm at the Tocumwal Town Hall.
The event is the brainchild of station campaigner Mandy Bonat, who said it doubled as an awareness campaign.
Tocumwal is serviced by Fire & Rescue NSW first responders and ambulances in Finley, Jerilderie, Berrigan and in some cases Cobram.
In peak tourism periods, community members fear having no dedicated local ambulance service could be dangerous.
The issue has been ongoing in Tocumwal for more than 20 years.
A renewed push for an ambulance station started in 2018 with the formation of theAmbulance for Tocumwal Steering Committee.
It gained momentum in the NSW election earlier this year, with support pledged by former Nationals Member for Murray Austin Evans and his predecessor Helen Dalton, from the Shooters, Fishers and Farmers party.
However, the community is yet to see any formal progress.
But Ms Bonat said the issue needed to be kept in the spotlight.
“It’s a community fundraiser and to raise awareness for Tocumwal to have its own ambulance service,” she said.
“Our committee was formed under the Tocumwal Lions Club.
“It’s been a big effort from all around town to raise awareness for an ambulance service as it’s needed in Tocumwal, especially as our town will be more populated as the summer season picks up.
“We’re hoping to have a big turnout with up to 150 people.”
Tickets are available from Rob Crowe & Co Real Estate in Tocumwal.
The $50 price includes dinner, the ‘Full Monty’ performance and other entertainment.
“We appreciate Bushliner Buses who have offered a free pick-up and drop-off service on the night,” Ms Bonat said.
