Local bowls enthusiasts are oiling off the rust in their arms with a return to the greens after the Benalla Bowls Club announced it would welcome back members following the easing of state COVID-19 restrictions.
While players are welcome to hit the rinks in a return to training, competitions will not return for the near future.
Bowls Victoria released a slew of new guidelines last week for those wanting to get back in the action, with strict social distancing rules still in place.
Benalla Bowls Club secretary Tina Neylon confirmed with The Ensign all its guidelines.
“Social distancing is must on the greens and therefore we only have four rinks per carpet green and three rinks only on the grass greens,” Neylon said.
“Only 10 per green and four players are to be on the one rink at any one time.”
Other modifications include a new sanitising station to clean all mats and jacks used, while players are only allowed to handle their own bowls.
Meanwhile, no spectators are allowed.
And while members don’t yet need to book in their time on the green - with the club not yet experiencing large numbers - Neylon said this would be monitored and looked at in the next two weeks.
