A Grade
Rennie 30 defeated by Picola United 42
The girls walked away disappointed after hitting the front midway through the 2nd quarter.
The defence of Lexie, Tiarnah and first gamer Hannah Shoppee again stood up well under fire however the Hoppers were unable to capitalise on those opportunities.
Congratulations to first time representatives in A Grade Hannah Shoppee and Abbey Coghill.
Hannah played an excellent game in WD playing against a crafty nippy WA.
With strong hands over the ball, she created many turnovers and quickly turned her defensive skills to attack.
While Abbey came on at 1/2 time in GS she created movement and options.
Both girls should be proud of their efforts.
Brooke McDougall in C ran all day and directed the ball into the ring well.
Keep your heads up girls, your efforts will be rewarded.
Awards: Hannah Shoppee and Brooke McDougall.
B Grade
Rennie 30 defeated by Picola United 34
Rennie had a slow start to the game but finished the game out strong with the girls only going down by 4 goals in the end.
It was the first game for the season to Leah Wilson and Sophie Pattinson and both girls combined well with Sophia Shaw to provide some strong leads in attack.
Sophie O’Dwyer and Celine Collins – Bye worked well together again in defence and intercepted and rebounded all game.
B Grade welcomed Ebony this week who provided a lot of movement in the goal circle. She worked well with Scarlette who never gave up and kept options in the ring.
Celine along with Georgia were vocal which really inspired the girls to not give up.
Rennie won the second half but unfortunately it wasn’t enough to make up the 5-goal loss in the first quarter.
Awards: Sophie O’Dwyer and Celine Collins-Bye.
C Grade
Rennie 29 defeated by Picola United 43
What a great game to watch! Everyone worked really hard this week in the hot conditions, it was tough!
Anika was on fire in GD whilst Mother Daughter duo Brie and Steph worked consistently on the wings and snatched up some great intercepts.
Nada in C was a pocket rocket and fed the ball to the girls beautifully and Adelle was happy to swap positions when needed to cater for the team and managed to score up a couple of goals.
Laura was on point shooting some ripper goals whilst playing her 150th game.
A huge congratulations Laura! All in all a top effort by all the girls!
Awards: Anika Walsh and Steph Munro.
C Reserve
Rennie 30 defeated Picola United 16.
The scene was set perfectly with a beautiful sunny day at Rennie as the girls prepared for their fourth game of the year coming up against Picola.
Tanya was her usual self with her leadership and direction on the court and being creative with her passes around the goals which Jess was able to capitalise on.
This held the girls in good stead before the first break. Defence was great again with Jordyn shaking off her ankle injury sustained last week and getting support from Jaz and Bree.
It was good to see Georgia, Ash, Amy and Anna linking up with good passes during the game as they continue to build chemistry.
The team fought hard all game and were rewarded with their first win of the year and will be sure to bounce into next game with great confidence.
Awards: Amy Smith and Anna Beex.
Under 17s
Rennie 79 defeated Picola United 7.
Another great game that showcased skill and diversity on the court. Coming into this weeks game, the Under 17’s had a plan in place for what they wanted to work on and how to execute their goals, and it showed on the court.
Passes were smooth and strong and the court was spacious with strong drives and vision for each other.
The girls were able to rotate their positions on the court this week, which really showed the ability to function as a team and have control over the ball.
The defensive pressure and eyes up across the court allowed for the Hopper goalies to execute an incredible 79-7 win.
Next week comes with a challenge, according to the ladder.
Coach Brooke McDougall is excited to see how this team bonds together and thrives with competitive competition, no matter the outcome.
Great effort girls, let’s bring it!
Awards: Sophia Shaw, Brooke Knight, Abbey Coghill, Hannah Shoppee.
Under 15s
Rennie 56 defeated Picola United 6
Great team effort girls. Working hard at training is bringing rewards and it showed with Violet Elliott playing a great game with one quarter in C and doing a fabulous job. Well done Violet.
Mia Wheaton worked well coming on at half time in GA while Abbey Shoppee was a wonderful support in WD and WA.
Helena played well in defence with strong hands over the ball.
All girls were rewarded for their efforts with a convincing win 56 - 6.
Awards - Violet Elliott - Mia Wheaton - Abbey Shoppee and Helena Shaw.
Under 13s
Rennie 27 defeated Picola United 4
The little Hoppers were back on top this week with a good win and some curve balls thrown at them. Tess went into goal defence and kept her eyes up at all times, even when she was 2 on one her defence was too strong to get the ball in the ring.
Charlotte brought some of her fire from footy this week onto the court and proved she is an asset to this team with multiple intercepts.
The shooters once again had perfect accuracy in the ring. These little Hoppers are one to watch this year.
Under 13s development
All the girls played well and are improving each week.
Awards: Kate Giblett, Mia Brogan, Nicki Baston-Dow and Chloe Perryman.
