YMCC - Under 14 Lakers & Rams

By Yarrawonga Chronicle

LAKERS

On Saturday the Lakers continued their battle with ladder leaders Rovers United Bruck Yellow.

It was always going to be a difficult task to defend the 83 runs made last week and the RUB Yellow team set about passing the total as quick as they can.

RUB Yellow batted with power and patience and finished the match with 3 for 346. The Lakers bowlers battled hard and never gave up even though wickets were hard to come by.

Wicket takers were Jack Costigan, Rudi Vodusek and Harrison Lappin.

All the boys fielded extremely well and continued to chase the ball hard all day, especially young Ben Coffey who had his first taste of under 14 cricket, sub fielding for the day.

It is pleasing to see how these boys go about their cricket even in the face of a big defeat, they never lost interest and contiued to enjoy the game.

Awards for this game were: Jack Costigan and Rudi Vodusek - Ricky D’s Pizza. Jesse McDonald and Harrison Lappin - Yarrawonga Fish n’ Chips. Dillon Kirchen and Ben Coffey - Crusty Loaf Bakery.

This week we take on the YMCC Bulls in our last game for the season, good luck boys.

RAMS

A good season done

The YMCC Rams headed back to Wareena Park Wangaratta for week 2 of their game against the Wang Magpies.

After being bowled out for just 57 and the Magpies finishing day 1 just 9 runs behind, the Rams were facing an uphill battle.

The young Rams took on the challenge with enthusiasm and 100% effort and although well beaten at the end of the game, should be very proud of themselves and the effort they put in.

All bowlers were fantastic with Ben Kennedy 6 overs for 12 runs, Xavier Martin 5 overs for 13 runs, Jett Peters 6 overs for 13 runs, Tahlia Thomson 6 overs for 15 runs, Jobe Fraser 9 overs for 8 runs, Ollie Cope 6 overs for 13 runs, Maya Hargreaves 6 overs for 21 runs, Ollie Connell 5 overs for 18 runs and Darcy Hargreaves 5 overs for 14 runs.

Wickets went to Tahlia, Jobe, Maya, Darcy, Ollie Cope and Ollie Connell.

With the bye in the last round, the Rams season is now over.
