The YMCC A Grade have played out a draw in their clash with Rovers Bruck in Round 12 action.

After being rain effected, the equation was that Rovers Bruck batted for 42 overs on Saturday and could bat for a further 33 overs on Sunday for a total of 75 overs at bat and Rover Bruck made 8 for 170.

The Lakers were left with 42 overs to chase down 170 runs.

The Lakers made 6 for 93 from their 42 overs.

The Lakers began their bowling innings with James Irvine and Angus McMillan taking the new ball.

Irvine claimed the opening two wickets but was struck down with injury just overs later.

In a great sign of the development of the Lakers bowlers, young guns Will Sharp and Corey McIntosh both bowled 16 overs; Sharp finishing with 1 for 33 and McIntosh 1 for 27.

The pick of the Lakers bowlers was Brendan Lewis who took 2 for 15 from 9 consistent overs; his wickets were those of Curran 51 and Blades 27.

With the bat, a 27 run opening partnership between Ben Welsh and Reid Clarke set a good base for the run chase.

Welsh was dismissed for 20 and Clarke added 26 before the Lakers were 3 for 54 from 13 overs.

Further quick wickets saw the Lakers to 5 for 63.

However, a great 29 run partnership between Brendan Lewis 15 and Corey McIntosh 15 ensured the Lakers would bat out their overs and secure a draw in the rain affected game.

Round 13 action sees the Lakers travel to Benalla to play over the next two Saturdays.
