Riverine Plains has been successful in securing a $3,000 grant from round two of Federation Council’s Community Grants Program for its ‘farm ag data system’.
Finance and project officer at Riverine Plains Kate Coffey said the grant funds will be used to assist with the data and maintenance costs of Riverine Plains Inc on-farm weather stations at Urana, Rand, Coreen and Howlong.
“The weather information, which is freely accessible at www.riverineplains.org.au, can be accessed via mobile phone or desktop and is updated every 30 minutes,” Kate told the Yarrawonga Chronicle.
“The data will assist farmers and their advisors with farm management decisions including crop choice, best times to spray and the level of inputs to apply. We thank Federation Council for the grant.”
In its 20th year, the not-for-profit Riverine Plains’ office is located in Melbourne Street, Mulwala and is dedicated to improving the productivity of broadacre farming systems in the local region.
