Goulburn-Murray Water has released its 2018-19 price list as part of its annual price review.
The pricing update is regulated by the Essential Services Commission on behalf of the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission.
A substantial review of services, standards, operating and asset costs, and pricing takes place every four years. The next price review period starts in July 2020.
‘‘In the current operating environment with a large ageing asset base and related maintenance costs, the fact that across all services and related fees, our average prices are generally at or below inflation is positive for our customers,’’ G-MW managing director Pat Lennon said.
Mr Lennon said it was important to note there was no profit margin involved in the fees.
‘‘The prices are based on real costs for services,’’ he said.
‘‘We’ve been steadily reducing our operating costs over time, and this remains high on our priority list ... This will help us remain as affordable as possible for our customers.
‘‘It’s important to remember that G-MW is responsible for the largest irrigation asset base in Australia.
‘‘With an extensive modern metering system, there are costs associated with genuine assessment, maintenance and servicing of these.’’
Price changes will be implemented each year until 2020.
