Tatura residents and friends only have 10 more days before deadline to sign up for the Tatura Football Netball Club Christmas Day lunch where all are welcome to enjoy a traditional home-cooked roast dinner.
Renowned roast chef Steve O’Toole and NewsXpress Tatura owner and lunch contact John Lovel will continue to steer the annual event this year with the help of many tireless volunteers, along with generous donations from individuals that enable the club to provide the meals at no cost to the community.
The lunch will be held at the home of the Bulldogs, the Ballantyne Centre, Hastie St, Tatura, where family groups are also welcome to share in the Christmas camaraderie that prevails at these occasions.
Kicking off from noon until 2.30pm, meals will be provided free of charge — alcohol is not permitted, but soft drinks are included.
Mr Lovel said this year the event would celebrate its fourth year.
‘‘The luncheon was initiated after a conversation regarding how Christmas Day can be a sad and lonely day for some if they do not have the means or ability to be with family,’’ Mr Lovel said.
‘‘This can be a reality for some — and quite contrary to the image we all relate to at Christmas.’’
Mr Lovel said the event continued to grow in numbers of attendees every year and identified a real need for the community.
‘‘All are welcome, and the more the merrier. Hope to see you all there,’’ he said.
■Those wishing to attend must book by phoning Steve O’Toole on 0412 477 586 or John Lovel on 5824 1786, or contact Tatura Newsagency by December 20.
