A rescheduled round six fixture last Tuesday night proved extremely fruitful for the outfit, comfortably defeating Shepparton Youth Club 5-1.
The McBain show was providing plenty of entertainment for those supporters who braved the cold conditions at McEwen Reserve, with Nathan (two goals), Xavier (one) and James (one) all scoring in the rout.
Justin Knott also found the back of the goals in an impressive performance for the Strikers, with Lachie and Tim Russell standing out as well.
The side then backed it up on Saturday with a round seven triumph against Mooroopna.
James McBain was again in fine form with three goals in the 8-2 win, with Knott scoring the same amount.
Andrew Woodcock and Nathan McBain were the other scorers against the Cats as Duncan Moodie and Lachie Russell directed traffic well further up the pitch.
James Black and Mat Long scored for the Cats in the defeat, with James Sach, Kieron Vaivars and Troy Brown battling hard for the entire contest.
Benalla and Echuca-Moama were in no mood for mercy in the B-men competition, securing big wins on the pitch in round seven.
The Tigers had a 5-1 result against Mooroopna — with Robert Dean (two goals), Daniel Trevaskis (two) and Alex Dowe scoring the goals — while the River Rats defeated the Strikers 5-0 thanks to Nigel Berryman (two goals), Regan More, Troy Kenny and Ashley Phipps (one apiece).
Evan Collins, Ben Binger and Jason Clancy worked hard for the Strikers, while Greg Luscombe, Inder Singh and Andrew Williams stood tall for the Cats.
●Mooroopna remains the standout A-women team in the association after another dominant victory — this time against Echuca-Moama.
The Cats compiled a 4-1 win against the River Rats to keep their perfect record intact as Sally Higgins, Steph Cardamone and Gabriella Cardamone ran rampant across the pitch.
Higgins and Steph Cardamone scored as well in the triumph, as did Narelle Robertson and Sinduri Lyengar.
In the B-women competition, Shepparton Youth Club was celebrating for the first time this season after snaring its maiden win of the campaign.
The Scorchers lived up to their nickname against Kyabram, slamming seven goals home to secure the dominant victory.
Sue Trevaskis and Jasmine Bohun led the charge with two goals each, while Taree Fletcher, Chloe Harmer and Ella Downie also found their way onto the scoresheet.
Amber King-Gee, Marie-Therese Shields and Katie Tonkin stood out for Kyabram despite the loss.
Other results in the grade included Echuca-Moama defeating the Strikers 3-1 and Mooroopna sneaking past Benalla 2-0.
●There were plenty of goals scored in the junior ranks as teams racked up some big wins.
The under-16 clash between Echuca-Moama and Mooroopna bucked the trend though, with the Cats edging out the River Rats 3-2.
All three goals for the victorious outfit came from the stick of Jack Vaivars, while Thomas Kerr struck truly twice for Echuca-Moama.
The Shepparton Strikers were in control against Shepparton Youth Club from start to finish in the under-14 division, eventually claiming the points with a 5-0 triumph.
Max Cole was on fire with four goals for the victors as Robert Thomas also scored in the win.
Echuca-Moama and Goulburn Valley Grammar School drew nil-all in the other fixture in the grade.
Mooroopna’s 6-2 win against Euroa in the under-12 competition came largely through the performance of Abigail Vaivars.
Vaivars sent home four goals in the clash and was aided well by fellow Cats Mia Ponting and Ryder Darlow in attack.
Neo McPherson and Zahara Johns scored for Euroa in the loss.
Other results in the division included SYC Blue defeating Benalla 5-0, SYC Yellow doubling Strikers Blue’s score in a 4-2 triumph and Echuca-Moama and Strikers Red playing out a 2-all draw.
The Scorchers and Benalla were on the winners’ list in the under-10 grade after finding success against Mooroopna and the Strikers respectively.
