With the scores locked at one-apiece deep into stoppage time, Jamal Ali sent the away fans into raptures as his shot deflected off a Suns player to steal three points away from the hosts at McEwen.
The loss signals the end of a four-game unbeaten run for the Suns, with coach Craig Carley frustrated at his sides inability to play its signature brand of football.
'I don't feel we really got into the groove of playing our style or tempo, so we were unable to control the game how we would have liked,' he said.
'To concede so late on again was frustrating, as I feel a point would have been a decent result and kept us level points with Manningham.'
Jamie England opened proceedings for the Suns in the 12th minute with a 25-yard rocket nestling in the top corner for his third goal in two games.
Manningham took the driving seat soon after, going close on a number of occasions but couldn't find a crack in the Suns armour by half time.
Persistence payed off for the visitor's moments into the second period, as Franc Carafa was allowed space to creep into the box and tap home the Blues' equaliser from a cross.
The Suns came knocking on Manningham's door once conceding, with Alou Kuol's strike cannoning off the post after some tidy footwork near the by line.
But with the final whistle set to blow, Ali's diverted effort from the top of the box wrongfooted Suns goalkeeper Monty Algazaly who could only watch as the ball trickled over the line, sealing an agonising defeat for the Orangemen.
'(There were) probably too many players off their game on a heavy and difficult surface, we took the lead and failed to build on that and in truth we were probably lucky to go in one up at half time,' Carley said.
'I thought we were better overall in the second half but conceding two sloppy goals takes us back to where we were at the start of the season conceding soft goals which I feel both could have been avoidable.
'We just need to regroup and get back to winning ways and no bigger test than league leaders Eastern Lions on the weekend.'
The Suns make the trek to Gardiners Creek Reserve this Saturday to face ladder leader Eastern Lions in what is sure to be a test of their mettle
In the under-20s, Shaban Mehmet's charges were undone 2-1 by Manningham United Blues in the curtain raiser.
After conceding midway through the first half, Fraser Gosstray squared the ledger for the Suns with a wicked strike from an indirect freekick.
However, the Blues found a winner from a corner on the hour mark, with Liam Pappas reacting quickest to slot the ball home giving Manningham all the spoils.
