Morris is struck out for one

By Aydin Payne

A Goulburn Valley Football League challenger will have its star ruckman sidelined for its upcoming clash against Rochester.

Echuca’s Kane Morris has accepted a one-match set penalty for carelessly striking Mansfield’s Ross Brown in the round 11 match at Mansfield Recreation Reserve.

Morris has played every game this season and his absence will force up-and-coming ruckman Jobee Warde to shoulder the load against Rochester.

That was not the only report from the heated battle, with Mansfield’s Brant Anselmi booked for carelessly striking Echuca defender Cam Valentine.

However, Anselmi will be free to play Euroa this weekend.

The MRP ruled that there was insufficient force used for a reportable offence, with the report withdrawn per the GVL bylaws.

There will be no tribunal hearings this week, with a Kyabram under-18s player accepting a two-match set penalty for intentionally striking a Mooroopna opponent.

In Kyabram District Football League, a Tallygaroopna under-18s player will miss the next fortnight of action after an incident at the weekend.

The player has accepted a two-match set penalty for engaging in rough conduct against a Stanhope opponent.

Elsewhere, the Murray Football League’s tribunal will convene tonight for an incident that occurred in the round 11 fixture between Rumbalara and Barooga.

Rumbalara’s David Smith has been reported for striking Barooga’s Brendan Goesch in the senior football match at Mercury Dve.

Nathalia’s Chris Brown will miss tonight’s tribunal after accepting a two-match set penalty.

The senior footballer was reported for using abusive language towards an umpire and will sit out the Purples’ next fortnight of action.
