Lachlan Robertson, 11, capped his first Goulburn Valley Bowls Division Saturday pennant season with a premiership as the Parkers pulled away to win 105-84 at Shepparton Golf.
Robertson, the son of star Benalla coach Matt, played a superb game leading for skipper Wes Gibbs in a rink alongside his grandfather Glenn Lockwood (third) and Steve Russell (second).
Dookie’s Ian McDermott earned a shot on the last end to pip Gibbs 23-22, but the Parkers won the other three rinks to clinch the club’s first division four flag.
Bill Chilcott’s rink of Vince Mazzella (lead), Angelo Russo (second) and the experienced Reg Jeffery (third) combined wonderfully for a 28-17 rout of Bill Kirkby’s quartet.
Chilcott raced to a 15-shot lead at one stage and was the difference at smoko when Park was just six shots ahead overall.
Doug Freeman pulled away in the last five ends to beat Dookie’s Gerald ‘‘Speedy’’ Ryan 28-19, while division four’s leading skipper Stan Hester overcame a deficit to reel in Neil Swainston 27-25.
Hester lost just once in 16 matches this season as Park converted the minor premiership into the club’s lone pennant flag this season.
The Parkers had all five Saturday teams and three of four Tuesday sides make finals.
