Shepparton Gold Cup fields are out

By Shepparton News

Three recent Inter Dominion finalists, including the runner-up, are in a small, but red-hot, field to contest the Group Two Neatline Homes $60000 Shepparton Gold Cup on Saturday night.

Inter Dominion runner-up Our Uncle Sam, emerging New Zealander star Im Pats Delight and local champ San Carlo, who all made the Inter final in Melbourne last month, will strive to win one of the most sought after country cups in the land.

NSW-trained pacer Our Uncle Sam was the find of the Inter Dominion Championship and ran a bold second in the final to Tiger Tara.

The Colin Frisby-trained Our Uncle Sam has drawn the outside barrier off the front row with San Carlo to keep him company in barrier six in the 2690m marathon.

Im Pats Delight, who was fifth in the Inter final, has drawn the best of the main hopes in barrier four.

Adding more spice to cup intrigue is the Tim Butt-trained Let It Ride, who almost ran down San Carlo in last Saturday night’s Bendigo Cup.

He has drawn to be in it for a long way from barrier three.

And another local, Share The Road, will have admirers at big each-way odds after his eye-catching run in last Sunday’s Cobram Cup when he galloped early but got up to run fourth.

Another NSW raider, Our Triple Play, is coming off a win in the Shirley Turnbull Memorial at Bathurst at his last start and also can’t be discounted, while veteran Flaming Flutter, an Inter Dominion runner-up in his heyday, who has drawn the pole, can never be ruled out.

●The other main feature on the 10-race card, the $24000 Group Three The George Gath for trotters also contains some well-performed runners.

They include the recent Inter Dominion runner-up Sky Petite and the fourth placegetter Monty Python plus other Inter finalists Kyvalley Blur, Red Hot Tooth and Big Jack Hammer.
