Shepparton Golf’s Brad Orr added another accolade to his long list of lawn bowls achievements.
The Goulburn Valley Bowls Division gun snared a second state singles title at the weekend after storming home in the final of the event against clubmate John Stokes.
The Golfers duked it out at Mooroopna Bowling Club on Sunday, with Stokes pushing the pace early to secure a 16-10 lead in the 25-up affair.
But Orr — who already has the division’s state pairs championship under his belt this season after winning it alongside David Daws — gave up just two more shots for the decider to claim a 25-18 triumph.
‘‘John was playing short to medium ends and I just took a punt and tried to play ditch to ditch, that was going to be make or break for me,’’ Orr said.
‘‘He probably didn’t handle that as well and I was able to skip away.’’
Orr had defeated Shepparton Park’s Ross Higgins 25-17 in the semi-final after sneaking past Kyabram’s Justin Spedding 25-20 in the final eight.
‘‘Obviously it’s always good to get those individual accolades, but I think all pennant players are really after those team ones,’’ he said.
‘‘But winning something like that is always good, and obviously playing the final against John Stokes, my clubmate, was pretty good.
‘‘We were able to relax a bit and have a bit of fun.’’
Stokes defeated Colbinabbin’s Greg Chandler 25-14 in the final four and Kyabram’s Ross Coulston by the same margin in the quarter-final.
