Victoria’s women’s side kept its undefeated Australian Country Cricket Championships rolling with a commanding win against Western Australia on Tuesday afternoon.
In moving to 6-0, the Victorians skittled WA for just 64, Chelsea Moscript looking totally unplayable taking 3-10 from four overs.
Amy Yates and Emma Gallagher took two wickets each in the impressive bowling display.
The chase proved comfortable for Victoria, 25 balls and five wickets remaining when the side tracked down the target.
The result ensured it would top the group stage and host the fourth-ranked side in today’s semi-final.
In Tuesday afternoon’s other match, Queensland dominated against the Northern Territory, posting a whopping 1-161 batting first.
Amy Riddell (64 not out), Chelsea Gan (44 not out) and Carly Fuller (41) were the only bats to feature in a stylish display.
NT was held to 9-78 from 20 overs with Kira Churchland’s 30 the top score.
●Two standout bowling performances earned the Victorian men a 36-run win against New South Wales on Tuesday.
Set 204 by the Vics, NSW could not handle Tony Caccaviello or Ben Boyd, who combined to take nine wickets.
Boyd in particular was a class above, taking a ripping 4-11 from 10 overs, while Caccaviello picked up 5-36.
WA’s Ben Patterson had looked to steer the chase with a brilliant 72 from 48 balls which included six sixes.
Cole Roscholler was the best of the Victorian bats making 53, Ashley Gray another contributor with 28.
The Victorians sat second on the one-day ladder heading into yesterday’s play, and would likely seal a spot in the final with a win against South Australia today.
