Liam Dodd has led the Shepparton Gators to their seventh win of the season, easily disposing of Wangaratta Warriors.
Dodd slammed home 23 points to bring his Country Basketball League north-east division season tally to 74 points to sit third in the top scorers of his side behind Dylan Wayman and Gabe Evans.
Hosting the Warriors at Shepparton Sports Stadium, an even contribution came from the side and Evans (16), Jack Threllfall (13) and Josh Labatlus (10) all chipped in to score double digits.
The Gators were raging favourites to claim the win against lowly-ranked Wangaratta and lived up to the expectation to take the game by a dominant 31 points.
At the end of the first quarter, the home side had surged to a 36-11 lead and from that point was unlikely to let the victory slip from its grasp.
The Gators kept up the pressure with just two opposition players reaching double figures via Liam Wright (16 points) and Jake Bowen (10 points).
Shepparton can look forward to its season resuming on January 5 when it travels to Wangaratta to again take on the Warriors with aims of building on the solid win on Saturday night.
The Gators have lost just one game this season — a narrow defeat to the Wodonga Wolves — leaving Josh Waight’s men sitting on top of the ladder across the break.
