Footy fever is gripping Kyabram and the popular TV football show The Front Bar is embracing it.
Members of The Front Bar crew will be in Kyabram on Sunday, but they won’t be pursuing the players who set a Victorian record with their 62nd successive win last Saturday.
One of the Kyabram Football Netball Club’s hardest workers, Judy Nelson, is the prime target.
‘‘Word has obviously got around the footy traps about Judy’s work at the club as its treasurer and canteen manager,’’ Kyabram president Mark Schumann said.
‘‘They (The Front Bar) have got to hear about the soups and melting moments (cakes) she makes and sells for the club at Kyabram’s home games.
‘‘That’s what’s really taken their fancy, so they are coming to do a feature on her for next week’s show.’’
Nelson is currently in Queensland to watch her son Sam, a former Bomber, play for Maroochydore in the Queensland Football Association division one grand final.
But Channel 7 will fly her home after tomorrow afternoon’s grand final for the TV shoot on Sunday and then fly her back to Queensland on the same night, so she can hopefully join in the premiership celebrations with her son.
But irrepressible Judy said yesterday that although she was heading back to Queensland on Sunday she would not be missing the GVL grand final for anything.
‘‘I’ll be back in Kyabram next Thursday ready for the grand final, that’s for sure,’’ she said.
