Moama continued to hurtle towards another Murray Netball League minor premiership on Saturday.
The Magpies put in an impressive performance against Shepparton East on Saturday, defeating the Eagles 63-23 at Central Park.
The big win has Moama a game and plenty of percentage clear on top of the table with two rounds remaining.
●Deniliquin bounced back from a shock loss to Finley last week to hand Rumbalara just its second loss of the season on Saturday.
The Rams were on top from the first whistle at Mercury Dve and eventually secured a 52-33 win.
‘‘I actually thought after last week we might have been in a bit of strife heading into finals with the form we were in,’’ Deniliquin coach Jodie Sefton said.
‘‘But we were able to turn it around within a week and put in a really great team performance.
‘‘We started off really well and maintained it for a really strong four quarters.
‘‘It now gives the girls plenty of confidence going into the last few weeks of the season, which we probably didn’t have after last week.’’
Goaler Leah Blake and defenders Ella Park and Emily Mildren stood out for the Rams across the contest.
‘‘Leah returned this week and was best on court in goal shooter, she was outstanding and dominated the ring,’’ Sefton said.
‘‘Ella and Emily were great in defence as well, and we didn’t have any weaknesses at all which was nice.’’
The only concern for the Rams was a rolled ankle to Hayley Hall in the second half, but she was cleared of any damage and young Ella Harvey shone in her place in the final stages of the game.
‘‘Ella debuted last week and it was great to get her more court time again,’’ Sefton said.
‘‘Hayley was fine and probably could have come back on, but it was a good opportunity to get Ella on the court and give us more potential options in the lead up to finals.
‘‘Now the girls are really looking forward to playing Moama again in a fortnight, because they’re obviously the benchmark and it will give us a real indication of where we’re at.’’
●In other round 18 matches, Numurkah snuck past Barooga 37-35, Echuca United did the same against Congupna 34-32 and Tongala just got over Katandra 37-33.
Cobram also had an important victory against Tungamah 52-45 and Mulwala defeated Nathalia 53-35.
