Werder Bremen have ended a five-game winless run in the Bundesliga but had to work hard for their 3-1 home victory over bottom club Fortuna Dusseldorf.
Substitutes Martin Harnik and Joshua Sargent netted in the last 20 minutes to secure the win on Friday, which lifted Bremen back to seventh on the table.
Dusseldorf had trailed to Kevin Moehwald's rocket of an opener midway through the first half but Dodi Lukebakio levelled from the spot before the break.
Fortuna remain bottom, below Hanover on goal difference.
Bundesliga leaders Borussia Dortmund travel to Schalke in the Ruhr derby on Saturday, when champions Bayern Munich, nine points adrift, host Nuremberg.
