Under-10s
After a week’s break the team headed to Yea for round 12. The wind made for a very chilly start. With nearly a third of the Tabilk team unavailable, they played two games with very small numbers on the field compared to other weeks. This opened things up a lot. Smaller numbers meant bigger efforts needed by all and everyone stepped up. Some great plays in both games and once again the players showed how much they have improved.
This week’s Zephyrz award went to Bryce for his effort in the backline. The Smarter Safety award went to Mac for his all-round great game, playing a great second quarter filling in for Yea.
The team heads back to Avenel next week for the second last round of the season.
Under-12s
Tabilk Football Netball Club made the journey to Yea to brave the icy conditions.
The Under-12s were put under a lot of pressure by the Yea Tigers and were made accountable when they had the ball with some great switching of play. Captain Angus Nash got his side on the scoreboard by kicking a great goal on the run and ended up with two. Flynn O’Brien and Matilda Brew layed some awesome tackles letting Yea know they had to earn each ball. Archy Harrison and Brodie Baker played a great team game, setting up well behind the ball when needed.
Max Smyth and Bryce Ashcroft played a great game getting to a lot of contests with their running ability.
Under-10 player Ryan Ezzard played a great debut game managing to kick a great goal with that lethal left foot.
Heath ‘‘Heata’’ Lane kicked three goals for the game with great ball handling skills. Hugh Murphy was dangerous managing to have more bounces than kicks, which was an amazing effort. Thanks to Darcy Bale for backing up and playing two games as well.
Tabilk 10.8.68 defeated Yea 2.3.15

Under-14s
Yea welcomed us with football weather, real mid-winter football weather.
After a disappointing finish to our previous match against Broadford in similar conditions the boys were motivated to prove a point.
The team collectively worked hard to make use of the dry ball. The boys put four on the board in the first quarter to take charge of the game early.
Yea tightened up in the second quarter and a few Tabilk boys allowed their opponents too much space.
Although extending the lead, it was not the football our team wants to play.
Our captain Angus Murray handled the ball as if it was dry.
Will Ledeux was quick out of the blocks.
Darby O’Brien again demonstrated his great ability to read the ball and play and also his great disposal was on show.
Tabilk’s pressure stepped up in the third quarter. This was led by the unlikely tackling machine Oscar Loweke.
Oscar was also the team’s leading goal kicker with three for the day.
Connor ‘‘the jet’’ Peterson was a welcome inclusion after missing previously with injury. Jet dominated off half back with run and physicality.
Not really a day for the big men but that didn’t worry Harry Wall getting in and amongst the traffic to feed his teammates.
School holidays hit the team hard with five lads missing but plenty of keen Under-12s putting their hand up to help.
Heath Lane, Olly Smyth and Angus Nash all stepped up and hit the scoreboard with a goal each. Well done lads.
Overall it was a solid effort from the team as we start to gear up for the business end of the season.
Tabilk 11.5.71 defeated Yea 1.2.8
Goals: Oscar Loweke 3, Will Ledeux 2, Mitch Coll, Rylan Joyce, Olly Smyth, Angus Nash and Heath Lane 1.
Best players: Angus Murray, Will Ledeux, Oscar Loweke, Connor Peterson and Harry Wall.
