The longer distance meant big time gaps with limit riders Adam Inness and junior Finbar O’Sullivan enjoying a 27 minute start on scratch.
The next group was 8 minutes further back riding from 19 minutes followed by 13 minutes, 5 minutes and scratch.
Inness and O’Sullivan turned at Locksley with a healthy lead as they headed for home while further back the scratch and 5 minute groups combined at the halfway mark making a strong team of eight.
It wasn’t until Mangalore with only 6km to go that the front markers were caught by Ian Porter (19minutes), Brian Inness (19minutes) and Jonathan Murphy (19minutes).
The scratch group kept the average speed above 42km/h as it reeled in 13minutes with its sights fixed on the front bunch, but the gap was too big to close as Ian Porter scored his first victory ahead of B. Inness with Murphy third, O’Sullivan fourth and A. Inness fifth.
Two minutes ticked over when Scott Brown (scratch) crossed the line to claim fastest time in 1:31.10.
The rest were, seventh Peter Cooper (scratch), eighth Darryl O’Keefe (scratch), ninth Michael Thomson (scratch), 10th Nick Tawney (5minutes).
Racing this Saturday starts from the Glenaroua F.S at 2pm.
