Getting into swing of things

By Seymour Telegraph

Banking on support from Nagambie and Heathcote Golf Club members and the local Bendigo Bank branch, it didn’t take long to get into the swing of things for the inaugural Bendigo Bank Inter-club Challenge on September 23.

There was a mixed playing field of 60 players who challenged for the interclub trophy, with Heathcote edging home. The final club scores were 33.1 to Heathcote, and 32.8 to Nagambie.

The day’s event was sponsored by the Nagambie branch of Bendigo Bank, and Heathcote and District Community Bank branch, and fundraising efforts from the day allowed a donation of $1000 to Nagambie Healthcare.

Chief executive Bronwyn Beadle received the cheque on the day.

‘‘Nagambie Healthcare, a community run hospital, is grateful for the efforts from Bendigo Bank, Nagambie and Heathcote golf clubs,’’ she said.

‘‘The money will go towards the upgrade of our hospital wing.’’

Branch manager of the Nagambie and Heathcote Bendigo Bank branches Michael Prowse thanked those who took part.

‘‘It’s because of our local customers banking with us that events like this are possible,’’ he said.

‘‘The more people we have banking with us, the more money we have to give back to the community.

‘‘That’s the power of community banking.’’

Next year the event will be held at Heathcote, where Nagambie players will be aiming to bring the trophy home.
