New top cop in shop

By Seymour Telegraph

A new Local Area Commander has landed at Seymour Police Station to keep an eye on the Mitchell Police Service Area.

Inspector Peter Koger has taken up the position, with the police stations in Seymour, Wallan, Kilmore, Broadford, Pyalong, Nagambie, Euroa and Violet Town coming under his watch.

Inspector Koger has worked in a host of different roles over his 28-year tenure with Victoria Police, with his previous position being at the newly-established police station in Mernda.

He says he is fully aware of the issues of policing in regional areas, and is excited by the new challenges ahead.

‘‘I look forward to working in partnership with our community leaders to provide a happy and safe environment for us all to enjoy.’’ Inspector Koger said.

‘‘I will be focusing on campaigns aimed to reduce residential burglaries, road trauma and vehicle related crimes.

‘‘I believe we all have a role to play in community safety and I urge residents to keep their eyes open and report any suspicious activity.

‘‘I am fortunate that I have an enthusiastic team working within the local area who go about their business with your safety front of mind.’’

Inspector Koger will be based at Seymour.
