The Ogdens and Barlows have teamed up again for the fourth year of the Shearing for Kids with Cancer Day at Bill and Val Barlow’s Rushworth property.
The event was started because of a local connection to the Royal Children’s Hospital in Melbourne.
‘‘The day started four years ago with one of our local families, from Nagambie, whose daughter had a tumour on the side of her kidney the size of a cantaloupe, so we started from that,’’ organiser Katrina Ogden said.
‘‘All the money today is going to a children’s cancer charity called My Room.
‘‘It’s all about everybody getting together today and donating their time, services and products.’’
More than 500 Merino sheep were shorn and more than 34 bales of wool had been pressed shortly before the lunch break on Friday.
In 2017, $27000 was raised and Mrs Ogden was hopeful more would be raised this year.
The day also included Mrs Ogden and her husband Bill and three children having their heads shaved for charity.
