Star power adds zest to Hoppers

By Campaspe News

COLBINABBIN’S A grade netball side again faced some less than ideal conditions this week, with the rain falling fairly steadily throughout the entire game against heathcote on Sunday.

Bolstered this week by the coaching expertise of netball legend Eloise Southby the A grade girls kept pushing for the entire game.

Due to European holidays and injuries, the girls again called on junior Hoppers in Ella Kerlin and Zara Myers.

Both girls played outstanding games and were unperturbed by the physicality of the game.

In the end, the defensive pressure and finesse in attack got the girls across the line in a comfortable win, taking home the WorkSafe Victoria Game of the Month trophy.

Lou Dupuy was awarded the player of the match.

Scores: Colbo 66 d Heathcote 19.

A reserve: Colbo 17 lt Heathcote 48.

B grade: Colbo 34 lt Heathcote 45.

B reserve: The girls came out with a lot of fight, trailing by only a few goals in the first three quarters and coming back strong in the last to win by one goal.

The team’s first win for the season was aided by Monica and Trish’s accurate goaling and a tight attacking and defence.

Overall it was a great game with all those who played as best on court went to Steph Crouch.

Scores: Colbo 32 def. Heathcote 31.

U17: Another big score for the girls led to a win over Heathcote on the first Sunday game for the year.

Anna Lowe played gutsy netball in her first game back from injury and the team was thrilled to have her back.

Tanzin Myers played another solid and versatile game in goals and defence, teaming with Ella and Zoe to shoot the 62 goal total.

Awards: Anna Lowe (Subway) and Tanzin Myers (Rochester Sportspower).

Scores: Colbo 62 d Heathcote 9.

Mony and Zoe switched in and out of centre with the awards going to Matisse and Summer.
