Russo was sentenced to five years imprisonment for the shooting manslaughter of David Calandro at the same property on February 18, 2017.
Shepparton CIU Detective Senior Constable Paul Van Emmerik said the Victoria Police Arson Squad investigations have concluded on site and that the fire continues to be treated as suspicious.
Sen Const Van Emmerik said the property had been unoccupied since Russo's arrest.
'The cause of the fire is undetermined at this stage,' Sen Const Van Emmerik said.
Sen Const Van Emmerik said Russo had been made aware of the incident and that it is understood he would be released from jail in the near future.
'We'll be continuing to speak with witnesses and neighbouring farms in the area,' he said.
