The Mooroopna Men’s Shed members can add another skill to their repertoire after a hefty donation from a Shepparton-based group.
The Lodge Eshcol No.785 and Freemasons Victoria donated $5000, which the shed used to purchase new metalwork equipment.
Mooroopna Men’s Shed member Peter Gibson, who drove the acquisition, said they had already put the tools to good use, making an array of goods including pot plant holders.
‘‘It’s a matter of bending, twisting and riveting; we don’t use any screws and it’s all cold work,’’ he said.
‘‘Which is really great for people with a limited ability.’’
Lodge secretary Allan Thomson said for the past four to five years they had donated money to various community groups and organisations.
‘‘We donated a car to the breast cancer nurses,’’ he said.
Mr Gibson said it was great for the members to have another thing to do along with the many other projects they had on the go.
