The Celtic Tenors are set to put on a lively show, jam packed with heavenly harmonies.
Having toured around the globe, performing in major cities across America, Canada, Germany and their home country of Ireland, the talented trio are one week away from providing those of the Goulburn Valley with a world class act in Shepparton.
Set to perform songs from their recently released album Irish Songbook, Matthew Gilsenan, Daryl Simpson and James Nelson will appear in more than 20 destinations across Australia and New Zealand as part of their tour.
Kicking things off in Byron Bay today, The Celtic Tenors will perform inlocations across Queensland and New South Wales before making their way to Shepparton next Friday.
Mr Gilsenan said the trio were thrilled to come back to Australia and visit Shepparton for the first time.
‘‘Even though Australia is the other side of the planet from us there’s something very, very close to Ireland — I think maybe we share the same sensibility and sense of humour,’’ he said. ‘‘We love Australia and the general feel of the nation. The people are very easy to get on with — we just love Australians.’’
Mr Gilsenan said with a great show lined up for the people of the Goulburn Valley, it was a night to look forward to.
‘‘The show itself is a lively show, it’s fun it’s uplifting — it’s a lift out of the dreary world.’’
‘‘We really embrace the whole thing that good music fills people with happiness and joy.’’
He said the group’s musical director Brian McGrane would also accompany the trio on stage.
‘‘Brian’s a big part of what we do so he’ll be up there accompanying us with a bit of piano and guitar.’’
Mr Gilsenan said following the two-month tour, the trio would certainly look to come back to Australia in future.
‘‘We can’t wait to do a lot more here in Australia,’’ he said.
The Celtic Tenors will perform at Riverlinks Eastbank in Shepparton on Friday, May 26 from 7.30pm.
