It is party time in Nagambie today as the town’s block party and open day starts at the Glass Square.
There will be food, music and activities for all ages and the opportunity to find out more about all the different groups and clubs that are operating in the area.
Strathbogie Shire Council youth/community development officer Andy Bell said the Nagambie Block Party would be a celebration and showcase of what was on offer in and around Glass Square in Nagambie.
‘‘It will bring together the Nagambie Bowls Club, tennis club, men’s shed, community house and the new youth hub together to host a fun-filled evening of free activities, music and food,’’ Mr Bell said.
‘‘You might like to try lawn bowls or tennis, check out what’s happening at the men’s shed or community house, or find out more about the new youth hub and upcoming programs and activities for young people in the area,’’ Mr Bell said.
Nagambie Lakes Community House president Wendy Keenan said she was also very excited about being a part of the Block Party.
‘‘We have so many different groups meeting up on a regular basis and we really forward to sharing our activities with the extended Nagambie community,’’ Ms Keenan said.
She said community house activities included gardening, camping, painting, writing, quilting, crafting or just making new friends.
‘‘If anyone has any great ideas on starting up new groups, we welcome that as well,’’ Ms Keenan said.
At the block party, the community house is planning on running the pizza oven, having a painting and drawing corner for children and adults, an art exhibit, games and more.
The block party is on today from 4pm to 6pm.
