Greater Shepparton mayor to advise minister on issues

City of Greater Shepparton Mayor Kim O’Keeffe has been appointed to advise Victorian Local Government Minister Adem Somyurek on local government issues.

Cr O’Keeffe will join 14 other representatives on a panel to advise the minister.

‘‘I am delighted to be one of 14 mayors from across the state to be chosen to be on the 2019 local government panel,’’ she said.

‘‘As a member of the panel, I have the opportunity to represent Greater Shepparton and share our future aspirations as a progressive region.’’

The Local Government Mayoral Advisory Panel will meet four times in the next six months, starting on April 3.

‘‘In my role as the mayor of Greater Shepparton, I am determined to make sure our region is well represented,’’ she said.

‘‘Along with my recent success in being selected as the deputy chair or Regional Cities Victoria, the role on the (panel) will give me greater opportunities to meet with ministers and highlight our region.

‘‘I will have the opportunity to network, share our success and aspirations and contribute to the future direction of local government.’’
