Careers Day Out returns for 21st year

By Laura Briggs

Careers Day Out will return to Shepparton for its 21st birthday this April.

Known as one of the largest education, training and employment expos in northern Victoria, the event is set to build on the success of last year, assisting more than 1000 students across the Greater Shepparton region and beyond.

The day session will be open to Year 10 students and will host a record number of exhibitors who will be actively engaging students by providing hands-on activities.

Students will also be provided with an insight into emergency services along with many opportunities to hear study tips and discuss their aspirations.

The evening session will be open to the public and will cater for students wanting information about further study, parents looking to re-enter the workforce, job seekers, career changers and anyone wanting to start their own business.

Those attending the evening session will have the opportunity to hear from Netgain representatives about the New Enterprise Incentive Scheme — a program aimed at researching and exploring all facets of a potential business idea and putting them into practice.

And a young person from the region who has recently started his own business will also be among those attending.

Careers Day Out will be on Tuesday, April 30 at the multipurpose pavilion at Shepparton Showgrounds and is sponsored by La Trobe University, University of Melbourne and Goulburn Ovens Institute of TAFE.

The day session will run from 9am to 2.30pm and the evening session from 4.30pm to 7pm.

Food and entertainment will be available on the night and families are encouraged to attend.
