Moroccan agriculture minister inspired by Goulburn Valley irrigation technologyBy Alana Christensen
Key irrigation technology perfected and manufactured in Shepparton could be on its way to Morocco to further modernise the country’s irrigation systems.
Rubicon Water yesterday welcomed Moroccan Agriculture Minister Aziz Akhannouch, giving him a tour of the company’s factory and offering insight into the highly automated and advanced irrigation systems.
It comes after Mr Akhannouch met with Victorian Agriculture Minister Jaclyn Symes on Monday.
Mr Akhannouch said agriculture played a key role in Morocco, where 40 per cent of the population was directly connected to irrigation in some way.
Following a huge investment into agriculture by the government, Mr Akhannouch said the country was now looking to further innovate and develop new areas to increase production and efficiency.
