Kialla Lakes Estate has been recognised for its quality and attractiveness within the Goulburn Valley, receiving a special commendation from judges of residential development.
Each year the Urban Development Institute of Australia, Victorian Branch (UDIA) appoints judges to inspect the quality of various forms of land and building development, including high-rise, community and ecological developments in Victoria.
Kavant Nominees chairman David Fordyce said he was delighted that Kialla Lakes Estate had been recognised.
‘‘The judges’ award gave the board a lot of satisfaction and was also a recognition of the valuable work of the board’s consultants, Chris Smith and Associates,’’ Mr Fordyce said.
He said since the beginning of the estate the land had attracted home builders, shops, a retirement village, a medical centre and a school with plans for a child-minding centre to be built on adjoining land.
‘‘At present over 1300 lots have been sold and further developments are taking place,’’ Mr Fordyce said.
More than 1000 members from the development industry attended the award ceremony at the Palladium in Crown Casino, where Mr Fordyce said judges gave special commendation to Kavant Nominees in the Residential Development category, ‘‘for the quality and amenity of the estate which includes the three lakes, playgrounds and parks, about 12km of walking and cycling paths and an attractive large retention basin to cope with any future rain event.’’
Mr Fordyce said this was the second time Kialla Lakes Estate had been recognised, after previously winning the Masterplanned Development Award for Victoria.
