Greater Shepparton Family Day Care was in celebration mode on Thursday, with children, families, educators and staff enjoying a Play in the Park and marking 40 years of care.
Guests enjoyed a morning at the CWA Park in Dookie, with children spending hours in the playground and taking part in some creative painting in the shade of the trees.
Guests also enjoyed train rides on the Dookie Lions Club train, with City of Greater Shepparton Mayor Kim O’Keeffe hopping aboard to join the fun.
Council’s children and youth services manager Sally Rose said the event was capped off with a barbecue, birthday cake and celebratory balloons, thanking the educators, families and past staff who came to help celebrate the milestone.
‘‘Forty years is a massive achievement for family day care, which has had such a positive history in Greater Shepparton,’’ she said.
‘‘The centre provides a different environment, a family based care option for people which provides flexible options for families.’’
