Boy charged after Tallygaroopna crash

Update 7.50pm: A boy has been charged with dangerous driving causing serious injury, hit and run offences and theft of a motor vehicle. The boy will appear at a children’s court at a later date.

Update, 2.15pm: Police believe they have unravelled a series of events that saw investigations conducted at both Tallygaroopna and Mooroopna today.

Just before 5am, a 23-year-old man with life-threatening injuries was discovered by a passer-by in an allegedly stolen vehicle on the corner of Norton Dr and Macisaac Rd, Mooroopna.

Later a second allegedly stolen vehicle was discovered crashed into a pole on Zeerust School Rd, Tallygaroopna.

Police believe it was at the Tallygaroopna crash that the man sustained his injuries.

Police allege another occupant of the vehicle involved in the Tallygaroopna crash stole a second vehicle and retrieved the injured man.

It was this vehicle, still containing the injured man that was located abandoned in Mooroopna police said.

The injured man was airlifted to hospital.

A 15-year-old male is currently assisting police with their inquiries while further investigations are made.

10am: A crime scene has been established after a badly injured man was found in a vehicle in Mooroopna early this morning

The vehicle was located at the intersection of Macisaac Rd and Norton Dr by a passer-by just before 5am.  

Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident and are urging anyone with information to contact Crime Stoppers.
