Man jailed for six years over taxi and mini-bus crash

By Shepparton News

A man has been jailed over a crash last year that resulted in the death of three people.

Jatinder Panesar, of Kialla, was jailed on Monday for six years, with a non-parole period of three years and six months.

He was sentenced in the County Court in Shepparton.

Last week, Panesar was found guilty by a jury of three counts of dangerous driving causing death, and two counts of dangerous driving causing serious injury.

He was found not guilty of a further count of dangerous driving causing serious injury.

The charges resulted from a fatal collision between the taxi Panesar was driving, and the mini-bus, which was transporting elderly residents from Shepparton aged care facility Mercy Place.

The crash occurred at the intersection of Pyke Rd and Turnbull Rd, Ardmona, on June 20 last year.
