By Tara Whitsed

Two years since playing in Shepparton, Tony Lee will return for today’s Concert in the Chapel.

The 2016 Australian National Piano Award winner will play works by Scarlatti, Beethoven, Schubert/Liszt and Debussy, among others.

Event organiser Matt Anker said the Sydney-born musician had earned a reputation as one of Australia’s finest young pianists.

‘‘Lee is the most highly awarded pianist in the country as he is the first prizewinner of the Lev Vlassenko Piano Competition, Australian National Piano Award, Australian Youth Classical Music Competition, John Allison & Henderson Award, Melbourne Great Romantics Competition and was the Best Australian Pianist at the Sydney International Piano Competition in 2016,’’ he said.

‘‘Internationally, he is a top-prize winner of the Louise Henriette International Piano Competition, Scriabin International Piano Competition (Paris), Kerikeri International Piano Competition, Adilia Alieva International Piano Competition, Euterpe International Competition and the Nordic International Competition.’’

The recital will run for just more than an hour and a light supper will be provided.

Concert in the Chapel will be held today, October 13, from 7pm at Saint Paul’s Lutheran Church, 54 Poplar Ave, Shepparton. Tickets are available at the door; adult $35, children aged 0-17 free of charge. However, bookings are essential at TryBooking.com
