Kialla siege ends after man surrenders

A man has surrendered, ending the siege situation.

UPDATE 6.05pm:

Police and emergency services are currently at a siege in Kialla.

Ambulance were called to the address shortly before 4pm after reports of a man who had overdosed.

It is believed the ambulance crew entered the premises and the man became aggressive, causing them to retreat and leaving their equipment behind.

Police are attempting to negotiate with the man who is armed with a knife and chainsaw.

There is currently no threat to public safety and no injuries have been reported at this time.

UPDATE 5.30pm:

Police are negotiating with a person at the property.

A chainsaw was heard from the property at one stage.

EARLIER:

Emergency services are at the scene of a fire in Kialla.

The fire is in the backyard of a property on the corner of Reserve St and Vickers St.

Firefighters are reportedly having difficulty accessing the fire.

A nearby kindergarten has been advised of the fire.

Two neighbours reported hearing a bang as fire broke out.

Smoke remains billowing out of the property.

Police, firefighters and paramedics are on the scene.
