By Shepparton News

Police have charged a man for a spate of alleged burglaries and thefts in the north of Shepparton, including from a number of sporting clubs.
A number of sites have been targeted in recent months, including Goulburn Valley Hockey Association, Wanganui Park Secondary College, Rumbalara Football and Netball Club, Shepparton Sports Stadium, the BMX, cycling and little athletics clubs, and soccer and netball facilities.
Shepparton crime investigation unit Detective Acting Sergeant Cherrie McCaig said there had been in excess of 25 to 30 burglaries in the area since May.
Thousands of dollars worth of items were taken, including laptops, televisions, sporting equipment, clothing, alcohol and confectionery.
Two defibrillators were also taken and remain outstanding.
Detectives executed a search warrant yesterday and charged a Shepparton man, 56, who was bailed to appear at court in November.
Det Sgt McCaig said as a result of the warrant, a significant amount of property was seized.
Police would be in contact with affected organisations.
She said police were not looking for anyone else in relation to the crimes, but said investigations and inquiries were continuing.
