The region’s drug dealers are set to be once again targeted in a campaign urging the public to turn them in.
The Turnbull Government plans to invest $1million seized as the proceeds of crime, urging Australian’s to ‘‘dob in’’ dealers of illicit drugs.
Federal Member for Murray Damian Drum flagged a relaunch of the Dob in a Dealer campaign.
‘‘We are seeking the local community’s support to advise Crime Stoppers on possible drug dealers in our own backyard,’’ Mr Drum said.
‘‘This campaign garnered a strong community response when it first ran from February 2016 to March 2017. Victoria alone had a 146 per cent increase in drug-related information reports.
‘‘I am encouraging locals in Shepparton to speak up if you see something. Calls to Crime Stoppers can be made anonymously.’’
Residents can phone Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or crimestoppers.com.au to dob in people profiting from the use of illicit drugs in the community.
