The Book Inn continues to provide Goulburn Valley readers with page-turners to enjoy by the fire through the winter months.
An initiative of FamilyCare, the Book Inn is a second-hand book store, run by volunteers, offering a large variety of books catering for all ages.
FamilyCare volunteer project co-ordinator Andrea Tuohey said the winter book sale was a great way to promote literacy in the community.
‘‘We have recently had a large number of books, so the timing of the winter book sale is a great opportunity for people to stock up on books and settle in for the winter months with a good read,’’ she said.
Wanting to encourage community members who had not had a chance to experience the Book Inn, Ms Tuohey said the four books for $2 sale was a great way to spread the word.
‘‘Our children’s section has continued to grow, showcasing many books that can no longer be found in traditional book stores,’’ she said.
Volunteer Sharon Golden said the large variety of books reflected a small-scale library.
‘‘We’ve got a very good selection of modern fiction books with popular novels, a very good selection of autobiographical work and an Australian section which is very popular,’’ Ms Golden said.
She said there had also been a selection of CDs, DVDs and jigsaw puzzles donated.
Customers have until 4pm tomorrow to buy a winter sale bundle, before prices return to normal.
‘‘After the sale prices range from 50cents for a children’s book and $2 will get you a top-notch book,’’ Ms Golden said.
All proceeds go to FamilyCare.
The Book Inn, at 94 Wyndham St, Shepparton, is open daily 10am to 4pm. Donations of quality books are gladly accepted and can be dropped off at the Book Inn or to FamilyCare’s reception.
