Fibre and Wool Day in Shepparton

By Tara Whitsed

A huge range of fibre and wool products will be on sale at next month’s Shepparton Spinners and Weavers event.

The third annual Fibre and Wool Day sees a range of stall holders selling a variety of products including ready-to-spin tops in a rainbow of colours.

‘‘Or if you prefer to process your own there are raw fleeces also available,’’ Shepparton Spinners and Weavers events committee member Lynne McCartney said.

‘‘The array of fibre is also rare and varied such as Angora rabbit fibre and Castledale wool for sale alongside other sought-after fibre products.’’

Ms McCartney said there would also be spinning tools and second-hand spinning wheels as well as loads of advice from group members.

‘‘For those who knit and crochet, there are original yarns that you won’t find just anywhere,’’ Ms McCartney said.

Guests will get the chance to meet the farmers, producers, dyers and crafters behind the range of wool and fibres available.

‘‘There will be morning tea available along with light luncheon for purchase and raffles running all day,’’ Ms McCartney said.

‘‘Entry fee costs just $5, so come along and enjoy a fibrelicious day and stock up on your craft supplies for those cosy evenings in front of the fire.’’

The event runs from 10am to 3pm at St Augustine’s Hall, 102 Orr St, Shepparton (beside tennis courts), on Saturday, June 1.
