Love + Light Wedding Festival heads to Shepparton

By Madeleine Caccianiga

District couples will be swept away by everything weddings at Shepparton’s first Love + Light Wedding Festival next month.

The festival is an innovation which brings vendors and venues together to offer inspiration and practical know-how for couples from the Goulburn Valley planning weddings.

Founded by wedding photographer Georgie James and, after two successful events in Rutherglen, the festival is now moving to Shepparton.

Ms James wanted to help couples make their wedding say ‘‘this is us’’, by offering inspiration and advice in the one place.

‘‘It’s about collaboration and inspiration, it’s also about celebrating these really lovely creative resources that we have in our region,’’ she said.

Offering a creative angle, Ms James hoped couples would be able to reflect their personalities on their big day.

‘‘I’m very visual and I think people are very visual too, so you can look at stuff online and be like ‘hmm?’ but if you actually see things set up, you can get a feel for things or you can meet vendors face to face and really get a feel for them and whether they are right for you,’’ she said.

Teaming up this year with bride and groom, the event will be showcased for the first time in Shepparton.

Editor Jessica Ball said the magazine wanted to bring together its readers and introduce them to potential vendors face to face.

‘‘It can be difficult to find wedding vendors, especially the smaller, unique businesses and this event brings those people together in a one-stop-shop visual format,’’ she said.

‘‘We have photographers, venues, make-up artists, hairdressers, floristry workshop, styling sessions, celebrants, music, runway shows, everything you should need to put together a wedding.’’

General admission to the event will include a free goodie bag with the latest edition of bride and groom magazine, launched on the day.

Ms Ball said she was most excited about the VIP ticket experience.

‘‘You get treated like a queen, arrive at the event in a limo, VIP seating at the runway show including canapes and sparkling wine — brides even get a mini facial, hair-styling session, makeover, photography session and a flower crown,’’ she said.

‘‘Bring your bridesmaids along and your mum and have a good day out — yes it’s about plaining a wedding but it’s also about having an enjoyable day out.’’

Love + Light Wedding Festival will be held at The McIntosh Centre, Thompson St, Shepparton, from 10am to 4pm on April 14.
