Move over reindeer, Santa has a new ride

By Tara Whitsed

A Shepparton Riding for the Disabled horse had a rider of a different kind recently.

Santa rode into the grounds, off Wanganui Rd, to greet riders for the annual end-of-year break-up as Christmas carols rung out.

Association secretary Cathy Hamilton said this year, the association celebrated its 40th anniversary in April, as well as hosting the Northern Region RDA games day in September.

‘‘Thanks to generous local support, Shepparton RDA has been able to continue its program throughout 2018,’’ she said.

‘‘Supporters include Shepparton East Bowls Club, Mooroopna Ladies Golf Club, Shepparton Rotary Club, Goulburn Valley Motor Vehicle Drivers Club, Sorotopmist International Shepparton Branch, local branches of the CWA, Mark McNamara Real Estate, Fairley’s IGA, The Community Fund GV and many others.

‘‘Shepparton RDA is most grateful to all the community for its support and wish everyone compliments of the season.’’

Shepparton RDA is a not-for-profit volunteer based group providing horse riding and related activities for children and adults with disabilities.’’

Shepparton RDA operates every Tuesday during the school term from the Wanganui Rd, Shepparton, centre.
